More than twenty free-standing, and 30 attached historical markers are located throughout Harrison County depicting the areas wealth of historical significance.  The markers are placed by different Organizations and are categorized here by the sponsoring group.  The Iron cast markers with raised lettering are created by Sewah Studios in Marietta Ohio.
 Ohio Town Markers
Five towns in Harrison County have state shaped signs that highlight their historical significance at the main entry ways of the corporation limits.
                                        
                                                         
Specialty Markers
Currently, five building in the village of Cadiz have been fitted with markers depicting their historical significance.

 

             
  

The Courthouse lawn is adorned with free-standing historic markers, monuments, artifacts, and statues, all honoring Harrison County residents.

Deersville Main Street Historic District

                            Missing Markers

Two freestanding markers (Dickerson Church and Stillwater Creek) are missing due to vandalism or theft.   A third marker (Beech Springs Church) was vandalized and is in storage awaiting a safer location.
The General George A. Custer Monument was erected in New Rumley Ohio circa 1940-49 by the Ohio Historical Society.  A Statue/marker and outdoor informational kiosks are included on the grounds.  The monument is open year around at no charge.

            

This marker, located on S.R. 9 outside of New Athens, commemorates the home of William and Elizabeth McFarland, whose 4 sons fought for the Union in the Civil War, and the home was a station on the Underground Railroad.

This Veterans Memorial is located at the Ruritan Park in Jewett This obelisk is a monument of Andrew Ross, the former President of Franklin College. It is located on the lawn of Franklin Museum in New Athens.  Located in the cemetery at Dickerson Church outside of Cadiz, this monument is dedicated the five members of the Dickerson family who fought for the North during the Civil War.
These two markers are located in Piedmont near the dam.  The top right marker gives details about the dam and the lower right marker was erected in 1976 for the nations bicentennial celebration and is dedicated to the past and present citizens of the township.

This marker dedicated to the "King Of Hollywood" is located on the Clark Gable Birth Home property in Cadiz.

The Revolutionary War Monument/Marker is located in Cadiz at the intersection of South and Buffalo Streets, and honors the Harrison County residents who served during the Revolutionary War.
